Gold-Standard Dentistry

A keystone of health for dogs and cats.

Dental Health Your pet only receives one set of adult teeth, which must last their entire life. Unfortunately, many pet owners fail to realize the importance of regular dental care, making dental disease the most common health problem affecting dogs and cats. An estimated 80% of pets we see have established dental disease by the age of 3, and if proper care is not provided, the problem only worsens with age.

Dental Disease

Daily toothbrushing is the best way to care for your pet’s teeth at home, and our team would be happy to teach you how. Whether your pet loves their teeth being brushed or they have no interest, even with excellent at-home care, your pet will require regular professional dental cleanings. Over time, plaque and tartar build- up, force their way beneath your pet’s gum line, and cause progressive periodontal disease. Without regular care, your pet’s tooth roots will become diseased and infected, which can cause significant pain, and eventual tooth loss.

During The Cleaning During your pet’s dental cleaning, each tooth will be examined, scaled, and polished. Using our new ultrasonic dental unit, every bit of bacteria-filled tartar will be removed, and your pet’s teeth polished to a shine. If our exam and dental X-rays reveal any teeth that require extraction, we can remove them during the procedure to provide immediate pain relief, and prevent further problems. We can perform even difficult extractions, including teeth with multiple roots, using our high-speed dental drill.  What to Expect During your pet’s routine preventive visit, our team will assess their dental health, and if needed, get your pet scheduled for their dental cleaning. A thorough dental cleaning is performed under anesthesia, to allow your pet to fully relax and avoid being subjected to what they would surely perceive as a scary situation. Additionally, dental X-rays, which can only be taken under anesthesia, are an option of your pet’s dental visit. With 60 percent of each tooth located below the gum line, as well as the majority of pathology, dental X-rays provide valuable information.

Example title Pocket Pet Dental Care Every animal that has teeth requires some type of dental care. For example, rabbits and rodents have continuously growing teeth that may require regular trimming, if not worn down naturally. Whether your pet is furry or scaled, we will assess their teeth during every wellness visit, and let you know if their oral health needs attention.
