National Animal Safety and Protection Month in October

October is National Animal Safety and Protection Month. In order to celebrate and take part in this special event, there are a variety of things you can do. If you live in the Derby area, contact your veterinarian at the El Paso Animal Hospital for more information.

What is National Animal Safety and Protection Month

The National Animal Safety and Protection Month are held annually each year. This event promotes safe handling and caring for all kinds of animals, both domestic and wild. The main goal of the event is education. By sharing information on adopting shelter pets, volunteering time and showing respect for wildlife, an individual can help show support for the event.

Who Hosts the Event?

The National Animal Safety and Protection Month were created by the PALS Foundation. This organization is dedicated to helping people and animals coexist in a way that benefits both. They believe that all humans must understand the important role that animals play in our lives and our ecosystem.

Importance of National Animal Safety and Protection Month

The goal of the National Animal Safety and Protection Month is to ensure all animals are treated kindly with the love and respect they deserve. Some of the things you can do for your own animals include making sure they are micro-chipped, so if they ever become lost they can be found easier. It’s also a good idea to pet-proof your home to ensure your pets aren’t exposed to harmful substances. Also, put together a disaster plan that involves getting your pet out safely. Finally, keep your pet up-to-date on vaccinations and make sure they see a vet for any sickness or injury.

If you live in the Derby area, contact your veterinarian for tips on pet safety. The El Paso Animal Hospital at (316) 788-1000 can help you keep your pet healthy and happy.
